I am a Parent governor and have three children, two currently at the school in different year groups. My background is in finance and consulting; I have 20 years experience of advising investors and companies as an investment banker; also as a business mentor for the government backed Start-Up Direct programme, and have served as both an executive and non-executive director of various companies in the consumer and services sectors. I grew up in a family of teachers in a rural community, and believe strongly in supporting the school in achieving the very best for all of our children, and in the right way.

I am a Parent Governor with two children currently at the schoo. Prior to having children I worked as a secondary school teacher both in England and abroad, teaching children from aged 3-18, giving me a broad understanding of the education system, policies and several styles of teaching and learning. I am extremely passionate about the welfare and education of all children and prior to having my second child I had only ever worked with children in a variety of educational settings. I am looking forward to being able to use my qualifications and experience to help support the school as part of the governing body.

School Governors are the strategic leaders of our school and have a vital role to play in providing the best possible education for our pupils. By law the purpose of maintained school governing bodies is to ‘conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement at the school’.

Their three core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

The minutes of the Governors’ meetings are available in the school office for viewing.
