Safeguarding
At High Wych, safeguarding is at the heart of who we are. Everyone Known. Every Child Nurtured. Every Heart Inspired. These values shape our commitment to ensuring every child feels safe, cherished, and able to flourish.
‘Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility’ - We expect all staff, governors, volunteers, and visitors to share our commitment to keeping children safe. Together, we create a school where children grow in confidence, feel cared for, and are inspired to thrive.
Safeguarding is defined as:
• Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
• Protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home,
including online
• Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
• Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and
effective care
• Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
Our Safeguarding Ethos
Our Christian values underpin our approach: we nurture the whole child, encourage every individual to reach their potential, and ensure that integrity guides our decisions in keeping children safe.
- Everyone Known: Relationships sit at the heart of our safeguarding culture. Every child is known as an individual and surrounded by adults who listen, notice, and care.
- Every Child Nurtured: Our approach ensures every child receives the support, encouragement, and care they need to grow in confidence and flourish.
- Every Heart Inspired: Our Christian values inspire us to act with hope, empathy, aspiration, resilience, trust and service, placing children’s safety and dignity at the centre of every decision.
